New Frame

Posted in Uncategorized on January 26, 2011 by destrega85

Hi guys, new update.

I worked a lot the last days on Lordi and made some good progress. The first sequences are rendered and already integrated in the final Film project files. I added some atmospheric music from “Lustmord”, a dark ambient band and it fits perfectly:D Of course I will remve that music later through my own compositions – already got some themes in mind.

Also Im happy that I found a new member for my team who is willing to model a Khorne Bloodletter for me:) Dont know if you guys know my extremely huge Warhammer 40k image “until the day we die” which I did with my friend Martin (who has modeled the Thunderhawk), but there were severeal Blootletters displayed. However they were created for this image, and the quality is not acceplable for my purposes anymore, so I have to do them again. But now Farhad will do that job and is happy to support the movie:) That saves me a lot of time and so the movie will be released faster:) However, there is still soooo much to model:D not to speak about animation:D

Another point is that our member Bijan, who already became a good fellow of mine is already programing the official Lordi website. I try to think of a webdesign and that stuff (im not so good in designing things ๐Ÿ˜€ ) and I plan to publish the first teaser for the launch of the site, which will be probably in 5 months – so mid of this year. Once the site is online, you can follow the progress either on the page, or still on the blog, because they are connected together and the updates and news are available and identical on both sites.

And as a last news, there might be a sequence in the film, where the eagle of Torquemada can be seen. I gave that task to Ben for modeling and Johan for rigging. Anyway if it seems to get too complicated or too time consuming we might leave it away. However I would like to show this eagle, because it is a very known attribute of Coteaz. But later in battle, this bird better stays in its cage on the Inquisition ship:D Better dont even think about a fighting double headed eagle against Khorne bloodletters:D And in the meantime, Martin is working on building the flight deck, that is gonna be awesome I bet:)

So until then, hope you like the next frame of the movie:)

ps: The Warrior challenge ends on next monday at midnight, I uploaded all files and now all I can do is wait:) Here is a turntable of Dorn in full HD if you are interested

Survey

Hi there, just wanted to help our member eZieweZie to get attention with his Survey he made for “Ultramarines the…well….movie”^^

It does not take much time and hopefully represents a solid opinion of the fans what they think of the film and what could be improved in the next one (if there is one)

I already completed the survey, and if you guys are in the mood for it too, just check it out:

Worked on some interiors in the ship and on the space sequences. Not sure if this will be a frame in the movie, but I just wanted to render a view of the planet by sunrise. I completely rewoked Occulta Maioris, simply because it was just a google grabed mars texture:) Now it is done completely procedural without any use of textures. Consisting of 4 differnet layers (planet, water, atmosphere, clouds) I rendered it using displacement to enhance the surface effect.ย  Also I renewed the materials on the ship and added extra textures, so that Andreas ships will look even better in the final shots. Will show some screens maybe the next days – or I keep it hidden from public first^^

Btw the Warriors challenge deadline was extended which is very bad, cause I was finished and all other entrys not:D That meant really good winning chances, but now it is extended to end of january and the competition is much harder then when all are finished. Hm, too bad – that was the sense of a challenge to make a character just in time…Anyway I was chosen already on the frontpage as a “hot entry”:D With me, only 4 or 5 entries got that honour. Hope that helps getting a price:) And my image ofย  Torquemada is today featured as a Daily Deviation on Deviantart and I got tons of mails and comments – already 6000 views in a few hours. I added the adress to this blog, maybe we got some new fans then following our progress:)

prepare for landing:)

Hi Guys,

this time a little insight in my home studio:) Sometimes people send me some notes or emails on Forums what kind of hardware I use and so on. So maybe this is also interesting for you, so I took some photos as my new workstation arrived.(I told you last year I think)

This is the uber PC so far, six cores at 4 Ghz, 24 gig of ram and a GTX 580 packed in the Phantom tower. Some people might have bought a used car instead for this price, but I invested in a space ship:D The tower is much bigger than the usual ones and full of fans and air cooling systems. However it is so quiet, it is hard to notice if the PC is running or not.

So have fun looking at my studio and if you got questions just ask;) Oh btw, has anyone a nicely painted Torquemada figure that I could place on my external Lordi HDD? ๐Ÿ™‚

First movie frame:)

So here it is, the first rendered frame of The Lord Inquisitor:) I was working on the cloth simulation of this walk cycle during the times I couldnt see Dorn anymore and I ended up with quite proper results as far as 3Ds MAX allowed:D Cloth is really terrible in max, super slow, easy to crash and often funny to watch how max thinks the cloth should behave:D Of course Im far away from being a cloth expert, but finally it turned out nicely – ready to render. I quickly modeld the enviroment, placed some statues in there and here we go:)

Pre Final

Hi guys, so I rendered Dorn in high resolution and I changed the lighting a bit. I really liked the red lighting, but somehow it did not match the concept…I want the image to look like as if Dorn is being captured alone and isolated in a forgotten cave/ruin and only some light from above is shining on him. When I activate the red light, or even a bluish one, it starts getting to look like as if there is some action going on. There wouldnt burn andy firepits, candles or whatever to light the scene, it does not evoke the feeling of loneliness. So I throw that light away and went to a more desaturated old look…what do you think of it?
